Globetrotting Globespan?

2 July, 2007 (15:30)
Canada, Lost and Found

Irish readers will have seen recent news coverage relating to the unfortunate Globespan passengers stranded in New York (not to mention those waiting in Knock for the sad air carriage to come and get them for their trip). I did look into Globespan flights to Hamilton (southern Ontario - relating to Toronto as Beauvais is to Paris!) this year - I didn’t book with them - but at the time I was impressed at the sheer vitriol of former passengers (from the fun Airline Quality page). This morning, I took another look at the opinions - and yes, it appears to be getting worse! They launched their Irish routes (Knock-New York and Dublin/Shannon-Hamilton (”Toronto”) just a few months ago, and their reputation appears to be in tatters already…I think Air Transat’s status as the “cheap” Ireland-Canada option will stay safe for some time; can it get any worse for Globespan?

Globespan is indeed a sad excuse for an airline company. With 19 hours stranded at jfk on the ougoing trip then coming back 7 hours at knock airport, missed connecting flight and had to be on standby for another 11 hours at jfk. They have made me wish to never fly again or step foot in another airport.

The paramount factor in the 6/28/07 - ?/?/? JFK fiasco is Globespan’s complete lack of integrity throughout. Stranded

My advice to those considering a Globespan flight: Run, do not walk to the next alternative air carrier. If you have read any of the accounts of would-be flight from JFK to Liverpool, 28 June 07, I assure you, if anything they are understated. I was there and I remain even today, 3 July, in a NY hotel with no word from Globespan. That’s right folks, 6 days later and still no resolution to this absolute and costly fiasco.

Globespan ruined my neices holiday in June. The flight was delayed for days, from Hamilton Canada to Dublin. Also my Daughters Boyfriends flight was delayed from Dublin to Toronto Canada also in June. They had to get buses to Shannon to get the plane.

Globespan are a disgrace, pay for premium and you get economy same as everyone else. I flew on 2nd May, delayed flight, told we would need to buy drinks with 4hours still to go on flight. Worse I have complained written , emailed phoned with the answer that they will get back to you but of course they dont. They delayed so much that I cant even get my credit card company to help, time lapse. The most interesting info I had today is that Globespan have resigned their membership of ABTA, passengers beware.

A little dubious as I hadn’t heard good reports, however I was pleasantly surprised and would not hesitate to fly Globespan again. Hamilton Airport a breathe of freshair after Toronto.
Good flight, arrived early both to UK and back to Canada. Good service and seats with a little more leg room. food ok, little difficult to get the drinks after the initial two.
