221 for 9

Being TV-deprived, I listened to it on the radio. It went right to the last ball, even when it looked like we’d have another ‘brave loss by the plucky Irish’ or something similar.
Update: video of the penultimate and final overs (thanks to Fergus for the link)

I didn’t even have the radio, so I settled for the BBC. But I love cricket on the radio, especially late at night from a far flung place, on the third day of an evenly poised test, as the advantage swings first one way and then slowly the other over the course of what is for the players a long afternoon and for me a late night/very early morning sitting at my desk, the words of the commentators a balm for the soul (and often the inspiration for the writing that has me awake and listening in the first place). It was good that this time the far away cricket featured an ourtageous Irish performance. Facing the final over, I thought they might (turing the outrageous into the extravagant) just do it.
