Cancel your credibility
July 3rd, 2006
From recorded phone call to blog post (subsequently digg’d) and on to television and finally, yesterday, to the New York Times. Our star, Vincent Ferrari, tried to cancel his AOL account; the operator on the other end of the line in the cancellation/retention section (whose explicit job as even stated in AOL job listings is to stop people from cancelling) did his best to stop it (for a while), and turned quite stupid towards the end.
Oops, AOL.
(Highlights are in the NBC video, click and see/hear/giggle!)
Happy Canada Day!

I’ve been a bad blogger, and haven’t updated in ages. But for the next six weeks, I’m coming to you live from Toronto; note the changed weather forecast in the right panel. I’m here to use the resources in the Robarts humanities & soc-sci library, the Bora Laskin Law Library, the information studies Inforum (checked it out on Friday…so much stuff! a library about libraries. Perfect), and other libraries and archives. I’ll also be meeting with various media, copyright and Internet law people - for interviews and for background knowledge. I’m also on holidays after the research, and will be re-exploring bits of Toronto during it, of course.
So expect the serious and non-serious bits of Lex Ferenda to have a slightly Canuckistani tint to them for a while…
