May as well join the rumour mill
Seeing as I haven’t done it so far.
Election on May 24 (sez the Sindo via David Cochrane).
Nothing on any of the obvious places (rte.ie, ireland.com, etc), and I went paper-hunting about 45 minutes ago and nowhere in Dublin 2 seemed to have the Sundays yet.

I’ve been out canvassing and leafleting a few times this week already. And I live in a building without public access, so putting both together, I’m much more likely to be the caller than the receipt of calls!
You should send them a letter about those bells.

Personally I’m hoping for a FF/L government after this election so best of luck! I’m counting on you!!
Incidentally isn’t it true you’re running for County Councillor at the next set of elections? Or was it TD?? I can never remember the fine details of your master plan… ![]()

Nah. My flirtation with being front and centre of electoral politics is done; been there and (literally) wore the t-shirt. (It had my name with purple glitter paint. Very fetching). It’s much more fun to get other people elected.
On the question of the day, though, apparently the Sindo coverage is no more than a couple of sentences - and still not picked up by others. Perhaps this is yet another false alarm. Let the spinning begin!

RTÉ TV news (just on now) has similar speculation. (There are indications that…)
Although, it amuses me that despite the promise (below), their own website lags behind. We’re a long way from every minute of every day on this side of the Irish Sea.

Someone’s going to get a great essay out of analysing the speculation (and the speculation about the speculation).

That website is getting fierce stick too of late because of the odd editorial policies.

RTE online has finally posted the news at 9.09am after meeting the President this morning.
McAleese has now left the country… wise thing too!

Let the mayhem begin!!!
I’ve already received at least two letters from local TDs (using Oireachtas Éireainn stationary) telling me how wonderful they are and that they want to be my friend!
One is even going so far as to say he’s pushing for a noise pollution act… However the largest contributor of noise (24/7/365) next to my apartment is unlikely to be covered by it (St Pats Cathedral) and so he may have lost my vote!!
What issues are you going to raise when the TDs come calling?
